This week I am so excited to get to know more about this weeks Guest Crochet Contributor Debi.
I have been a fan of hers since I started crocheting about 4 years ago. I have followed her blog and adore her patterns. Debi can be found everywhere on the internet. It's exciting to see her release something new and her items are often unique and beautiful. Let's get to know her, shall we?
The image is one of my favourites, it’s of me in 2002 with the blanket that my Nanny hooked for me. She was the one who taught me crochet
when I was little.!
Tell us a bit about you/family?
Growing up I was always a crafty kid, sewing, painting, sculpting, anything I could get my hands on. I went to college for web design and business accounting while always wanting to be a fashion designer, I just never imagined I’d be doing it with a hook an yarn.
How did you decide on the name for your shop/blog?
I have a few friends that would message me with the name. It’s kind of just stuck!
How long has your shop/blog been open and why did you start it?.
I picked up my hooks in January of 2011 and after a year of following patterns I decided to try my hand at making some of my own items and started with a simple and easy tutu. I never thought to write down or blog anything I was making until I met Corina from Stitch11 in the Summer of 2012.
What is your favorite item/s in your shop or on your blog at the moment?
I love bonnets! They are my favourite thing to make and I absolutely love to see them on baby girls. Every baby girl should wear a bonnet! All my bonnets can be viewed HERE. My favourite piece that I’ve made is the Dancing Flowers Infinity Scarf.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I am always doing google image searches, I love to browse pinterest, for everything from crochet, to knit, to sewing. I see things in my dreams, one of my most vivid dreams was of my Lady Bella Cloak.
What other things do you like to do in your spare time?
I really love to crochet, I bring it every where I go. If I’m not hooking I am spending time with my kids, doing crafts or playing board games.
What would be the one piece of advice would you give to a person setting up their own shop/blog?
Do what you love and you will always have something to work with. Never stop learning and growing. Inspiration brings out the best in you, Motivation gets you moving. Determination keeps you going.
