Shelbi Hat- Free Child Size Pattern

​Introducing the Shelbi Crochet Hat.  This hat is made using the spiral design at the top and point sts and sc around the sides. The sizes on this hat are 6 months to Adult. I am offering ONE SIZE for free and the sizes can be purchased in my shop.

You will need:

1 skein of Vanna’s Choice

Hook I/5.50mm

Tapestry Needle

Optional Embellishment

Gauge: in sc 

2 inches x 2 inches = 8 rows by 8 stitches

Child 5-10

Working in the round with no joins or chains, unless specified. Using stitch markers will help tremendously.

Ch 4, to form a ring, sl st to the 1st ch

Rnd 1: sc 12 times into the circle

Rnd 2: sc into the first sc, *ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next st*, rep 5 more times from * 

Rnd 3: sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sc in the next sc, sc in the ch3 sp, * rep 4 more times,  ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next sc. 

Rnd 4: 2 sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sk next sc, sc into the next sc, 2 sc into the next ch 3 sp*, rep. 4 more times ch3, sk next sc, sc into the next 2 sc.

Rnd 5: 2 sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sk next sc, sc into the next 2 sc, 2 sc into the ch3 sp,* rep 5 more times, ch3, sk next sc, sc into the next 3 sc.

Rnd 6: 2 sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 3 sc, 2 sc in the ch3 sp*, rep 4 more times, ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 4 sc.

Rnd 7: 2 sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 4 sc, 2 sc in the ch3 sp*, rep 4 more times, ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 5 sc.

Rnd 8: 2 sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 5 sc, 2 sc in the ch3 sp*, rep 4 more times, ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 6 sc.

Rnd 9: 2 sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 6 sc, 2 sc in the ch3 sp*, rep 4 more times, ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 7 sc.

Rnd 10: 2 sc into the ch3 sp, *ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 7 sc, 2 sc in the ch3 sp*, rep 4 more times, ch3, sk next sc, sc in the next 8 sc.



Rnd 11: 3 sc into ch 3 sp, *sc in the next 8 sts, 3 sc into ch 3 sp*, rep from * around, sl st to sc. (73sts)

Rnd 12: ch1, sc same as ch1, sc in the next st and each st around, sl st to top of sc. (73sc)

Rnd 13: ch1, sc same as ch1, sc in the next st and each st around, sl st to top of sc. (73sc)

Rnd 14: ch1 ,*pull up a loop in the next 2 chains, yo, go through 2 loops, yo, go through last 2 loops, ch1, rep around,  sl st into ch 1. (36 point sts)

Rnd 15-20: rep rnds 12-14

Rnd 21-22: rep rnd 13

Rnd 23: ch3, sk next 3 sts, sc in the next st. rep from * around. sl st to ch3 sp.

Rnd 24: ch1, 3 sc in the same ch3 sp, 3 sc in the next ch3 sp and in each ch3 space across , sl st to top of sc.

Finish off and weave in ends.
