Nostalgia Hat and Fingerless gloves- A Free Pattern

One of my favorite patterns.  This hat is made for teens to adults.  Made with clusters, this gives the hat a flower look. It'a a fun hat to work up and my tester, Lisa Egan, loves this set.  It works up quickly.

Nostalgia Hat and Fingerless Gloves

Hat
Materials:
Any color #4 worsted weight yarns will work H/6-4.5 mm hook
Gauge: 2 in by 2 in = 6 sts by 3 rows

Stitches Used:
CH – Chain SC -single crochet HDC -half double crochet DC -double crochet ST -stitch SL ST -slip stitch
SP -space YO -yarn over

Special Stitches:
To work a 2-dc cluster: (use 1 ch) * yo, insert hook in ch indicated, yo pull up loop, yoand draw through 2 loops on hook* repeat from * to * once more, yo and drawthrough 3 loops on hook.
To work a 3-dc cluster: (use next 3 dc’s) * yo, insert hook in next dc, yo and pull uploop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook* repeat from * to * 2 more times yo anddraw through 4 loops on hook.


Note: ch1’s, ch2’s, and ch3’s at beginning of row, does NOT count as a
stitch, unless otherwise stated. To join: sl st in top of 1st sc, or dc st of the
row you are on)


Hat:
Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in 3rd ch from the hook, 10 dc into same st, sl st to top of ch 3 (12 dc’s)
Row 1: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, 2 dc in the next st and in each st around, sl st to join. (24 dc’s)  

Row 2: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from *to * around sl st to join. (36 dc’s)

Row 3: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, dc in the next 2 sts, *2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * around sl st to join. (48 dc’s)

Row 4: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, dc in the next 3 sts, *2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts*, repeat from * to * around sl st to join. (60 dc’s)

Row 5: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, dc in the next 4 sts, *2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 4 sts *, repeat from * to * around sl st to join. (72 dc’s)

Row 6-7: ch 2(counts as 1st dc), dc in 1st st and each stitch around. Join with sl st in top of ch2. (72 dc’s)

Row 8: ch 2, turn, skip 1st dc, dc in next st, ch 3, work 2-dc cluster in 3rd ch fromhook, *work 3:dc cluster into next dc, ch 3 work 2-dc cluster in 3rd ch from the hook* repeat from * to * across to last dc, 2-dc cluster in last dc . Sl st to join.

Row 9: ch 3, turn, dc in 1st st, (skip next ch sp, 3 dc in next 3-dc cluster) across to lastch sp, skip last ch sp, 2 dc in last dc. Sl st to join.

Row 10-11: ch 3(counts as 1st dc), dc in next dc and each dc round. Sl st to join.

Row 12-13: repeat row 8 and 9 Sl st to join.

Row 14-15: repeat row 6 and 7. Sl st to join.

Row 16: ch 2, skip 2 sts, *5 dc into next st, skip 2 sts,* repeat from * to * around. Sl st to join.
Finish off and weave in ends.

“Nostalgia” Fingerless Gloves – by: Sheri Weber

Fingerless Gloves
Materials:
Any color #4 worsted weight yarns will work
4.5 mm hook

Gauge: 2 in by 2 in = 7 sts by 3 rows

Stitches Used:
CH – Chain SC -single crochet HDC -half double crochet DC -double crochet ST -stitch SL ST -slip stitch
YO -yarn over Dec -Decrease

Special Stitches:
To work a 2-dc cluster-(use 1 ch) * yo, insert hook in ch indicated, yo pull up loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook* repeat from * to * once more, yo and draw through 3 loops on hook.
To work a 3-dc cluster-(use next 3 dc’s) * yo, insert hook in next dc, yo and pull up loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook* repeat from * to * 2 more times yo and draw through 4 loops on hook.

Cuff:

Ch 14 loosely

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across, turn (13sc)

Row2-32: *Ch 1, Sc in back loop only across, Turn, repeat * until it measures 7”.Working through BOTH loops of last row, sl st together last row and beginning chain to form a cuff. The joining of the last row and the beginning chain will become the“seam.” 

DO NOT FASTEN OFF

Glove: (note: ch1’s, ch2’s, and ch3’s at beginning of row, does NOT
count as a stitch, unless otherwise stated. To join: sl st in top of 1st sc, or dc st of the row you are on)
Bottom of cuff (arm warmer part)
Row 1: ch 1, 2 sc in top of each rib around, sl st to join, turn (32 sc’s) 

Row 2-3: ch 2, dc in 1st st and in each st around, sl st to join, turn (32 dc’s)

Row 4: ch 2, turn, dc in next st, ch 3, work 2-dc cluster in 3rd ch from hook, *work 3-dc cluster over next 3 dc’s, ch 3 work 2-dc cluster in 3rd ch from the hook* repeat from *to *across to last dc, 2-dc cluster in last dc. Join with sl st to top of 1st dc. (11-2dc clusters)

Row 5: ch 3, turn, dc in 1st st, ( skip next ch sp, 3 dc in next 3-dc cluster) across to lastch sp, skip last ch sp, 2 dc in last dc. Join with sl st to top of 1st dc (11-3dc groups)
Row 6-7: ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next dc and each dc round. Join in top of beginning 
ch3. (33 dc’s)

Fasten off.

Otherside of cuff (glove part). Join yarn with a sc on the top side of cuff
at the seam. The yarn will be attached here, so the seam will be in the
palm of the glove.

Row 1: ch 1, 2 sc in top of each rib around, sl st in top of 1st sc to join, turn (32 sc’s)
Row 2: ch 1, sc in next st and in each st around, sl st to join turn (32 sc’s)

Row 3: ch 1, 2 sc in same st, sc in the next 9 sts, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 9 sts*,
repeat from * to *, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st, sl st to join turn (36 sc’s)

Row 4: ch1, sc in each st, sl st join turn (36 sc’s)

Row 5: ch 1, sc in next st, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 8
sts, 2 sc in next sc, sc to end, sl st to join turn (40 sc’s)

Row 6-9: ch1, sc in each sc, sl st to join turn (40 sc’s)

Row 10: (Left glove only) ch1, sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts, ch 5, skip next 5 sts, sc in
next st, sc to end, sl st to join turn

Row 10: (Right glove only) ch1, sc in next st and in next 19 sts, ch5 skip next 5 sts on
row 9, sc to end sl st to join turn

Row 11: ch 1 sc in next st and in each sc and ch around, sl st to join turn

Row 12: ch1, sc in next st and in each stitch around, sl st to join turn

Row 13: (Left glove only) ch1, sc in next st and in next 5 sts, (dec over next 2 sc) 3
times, sc to end, sl st to join turn

Row 13: (Right glove only) ch1, sc in next st and in the next 17sts, (dec over next 2
sc) 3times, sc to end, sl st in to join turn

Row 14: (Left glove only ) ch1, sc in next st and next 6 sc, dec over next 2 sts, sc to end, sl st to join turn

Row 14: (Right glove only) ch1, sc in next st and next 17 st, decrease over next 2 st, sc to end, sl st to join turn


Row 15: chain 1, sc in each st, sl st to join turn

Row 16:ch1, skip 2 stitches, *5 sc into next stitch, skip next 2 stitches* repeat from *to end and finish off.

Weave in ends.

Thumb (optional)
Row 1: join yarn with sl st on palm side of thumb opening. Sc 10 st evenly around thumb opening, sl st to join

Row 2–4: ch 1, sc in same st and in each st around, sl st to join.
At the end of row 4, finish off.

Hi! I can't believe you are giving this pattern away for free!! I love it, it has long been on my short list of 'patterns I want'!! However, I can not get the Cleanprint or the PDF option to work for me! It's probably something I'm doing wrong, lol! If you can tell me why, I would so appreciate it! Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern!!
