The Country Willow has found a brand new pattern for you this week from Crochet Kim (Kim Guzman). This weeks Monday Find is the Twisty Cabled Beanie.  When you see this pattern you will understand my excitement.  This is one pattern you will want to check out!
Picture
Finished size

Hat body 26″, brim 19″ (stretchy), height 9″

Materials

  • Red Heart Super Saver (aran weight, 100% acrylic) approx. 208 yards (shown in color Linen)
  • Suggested hook sizes: M-13 [9mm] (larger hook) and H-8 [5mm] (smaller hook)
  • Stitch marker (or small piece of scrap yarn)
  • Needle (for weaving ends)
Notes

Hat is worked top-down, in joined rounds, brim is applied once the hat body is finished.

In order to get a project in this cable stitch repeat without it feeling like a stiff helmet, you must work at a loose tension. You may be working with a hook size in which you’ve never worked with an aran weight yarn. Believe me. I tried it with my go-to hook of size K and it was very stiff. It is absolutely necessary that you work at a very loose tension. The brim is the exact opposite. You need to work at a very tight tension for the brim. The tighter, the better. Gauge is provided so you can measure along the way.

Gauge

After round 3, approx. 3.5″
After round 6, approx. 7″
After round 7, approx. 8″
