Crochet Guest Contributor- Rebeckah of Rebeckah's Treasures

Picture
This week's Guest Contributor is Rebeckah of Rebeckahs Treasures. I met Rebeckah in a crochet bloggers group and fell in love with the clothes she makes for dolls.  If you have a daughter into Barbies, this is the place to go for some amazing outfits for your daughter's barbies.

A little info about Rebeckah that she shared:

I grew up the oldest child in a large family, and dream of becoming a mom to a few of
my own someday. I currently reside in the tropical land of Panama with my husband, and enjoy drinking coconut water straight from the source whenever I can. I adore all things barbies and take great pleasure in making toys... hence why everything I crochet has something to do with them.
I love all colours and rainbows, but my most favourite colours are purples, blues and
browns.

How did you decide on the name for your shop/blog?

Coming up with a name for my blog took quite a bit of time. The only thing I was sure of
from the start was that I wanted to incorporate my name to make it personal. Originally,
it was going to have 3 words - my name, an adjective (to describe me and my work) and
a noun (to be describe what I do). Once I had a list of a few things I liked, I shared it
with my mom, and thatʼs when she suggested Rebeckahʼs Treasures (“treasured” had
been on of the names I liked the most). I fell in love with it right away and knew that it
would be perfect!

How long has your shop/blog been open and why did you start it?

Officially, my blog has been open for 1.5 years, and my shop a few months less, but I
am actually going on 2 years this November since I started it.
My hubby and sister kept telling me I should share what I do. So, I decided to give it a
go. At first, it was only about showcasing what I had crocheted, and I was planning on
doing custom orders, but all that changed when I shared the chess set I made for my
father...
I had what felt like hundreds of requests for the pattern. Thatʼs when the idea of
becoming a pattern designer sparked in my mind, and I couldnʼt believe that it had
never occurred to me before.

What is your favourite item/s in your shop or on your blog at the moment?

Ooh.. thatʼs a toughie. I really fall in love with everything I crochet, but if I have to pick, I
would have to say “Happily Ever After”, “Pretty in Pink”, the “Chess Set” and the
“Wedding Veils”.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from what I see, my family, and what I really wish I could have
made for my dolls as a child.

What other things do you like to do in your spare time?

That hardly ever happens... though when it does, I like to sing, bake, watch movies,
and chat with my family over Skype.

What would be the one piece of advice you would give to a person setting up
their own shop/blog?

Figure out what you want and just go for it! Donʼt look back, or second-guess yourself.
Be you, do what you love, and the rest you can learn as you go.
