Bohemian Winter HatOk , I am sharing this pattern with you all that are participating in the Designers Potpourri CAL. The Bohemian Winter Hat is made from the bottom up. This is the 2nd pattern for all you wonderful followers! I loved working this set and I am super excited to see all the finished projects. Skill Level: Intermediate
Materials: K Hook/ 6.5mm Lion Brand Yarn – Pound of Love – Antique White (1)- 2 inch button Stitch Abbreviations: ch(s)- chain/chains blo -back loop only sc- single crochet dc- double crochet hdc- half double crochet hk - hook rep- repeat sl st – slip stitch st(es) – stitch/stitches sp(s) – space/spaces YO – yarn over Special Stitch: 3 dc cluster – (uses one stitch) *YO, insert hk in st indicated, YO and pull up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops on hk; rep from * 2 more times, YO and draw through all 4 loops on hk. Gauge: 2 inch by 2 inch = 7 stitches and 9 rows Hat measures from crown to base 8.5 inches and circumference is 19 inches The hat is made in multiples of 22 sts plus 15 sts We will be working from the bottom up. First we will make the ribbing for the hat band. Ch 10 Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in the next 7 sts (BLO), sc in the last st. (9 sc) Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in the 1st st, sc in the next 7 sts (BLO), sc in the last st. (9sc) Repeat Row 2; 73 more times. (75 rows of ribbing) Finish off and weave in ends. Hat: To start the hat, add yarn to the middle about 26 rows into the band. This is so if you end up with a seam, it will be in the back of the hat. Row 1: Sl st yarn to join, ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in each st around until you come to the end of the cuff, skip 10 rows of the other side of the cuff and sc into the next st and in each st around, sl st to sc. (66 sc) Row 2: Ch 3(counts as dc), dc in the next st and in each st around. Sl st to top of dc. (66 dc) Row 3: Ch 7, (counts as dc and ch 4 now and throughout) sk 1st 2 dc, work 3- dc cl in next dc, (ch 1, sk 3 dc, work 3- dc cl in the next st,) 2 times, ch 4, skip next st, dc in the next st, * (ch 1, sk next st, dc in the next st) 5 times, ch 4, sk next st, work 3- dc cl in next st, (ch 1, sk next 3 sts, work 3- dc cl, in next st,) twice, ch 4, sk next st, dc in the next st*: rep from * to * across to last 11 sts, (ch 1, sk next st, dc in the next st) 5 times. Sl st to top of dc. 3 sets of 3-dc cl) Row 4: Ch 7, sc in the next 3- dc cl, (sk next st, sc in the next 3-dc cl) twice, ch 4, dc in the next st, *(ch 1, dc in the next st) 5 times, ch 4, sc in the next 3-dc cl, (sk next st, sc in the next 3-dc cl) twice, ch 4 dc in the next st*; rep from * to * across to last 11 sts, (ch 1, dc in the next st) 5 times, sl st to top of dc. Row 5: Ch 4, (counts as 1st dc + ch 1), work 3-dc cl in next sc, (ch 3, work 3-dc cl in next sc) twice, ch 1, * (dc in the next st, ch 1) 6 times, work 3-dc cl in next st, (ch 3, work 3-dc cl in next st,) twice, ch 1; rep from * across to last 11 sts, * (dc in the next st, ch 1) 6 times , sl st to top of dc. Row 6: Ch 3, (counts as 1st dc, now and throughout), dc in the next ch 1 sp and in the next 3-dc cl, (3 dc in the next ch 3 sp, dc in the next 3-dc cl) twice, * (dc in the next ch 1 sp and in the next st) 6 times, dc in the next ch 1 sp and in the next 3-dc cl, (3 dc in the next ch 3 sp, dc in the next 3-dc cl) twice; rep from * across to last ch 1 sp, dc in the last ch 1 sp and in last dc. (66 dc) Row 7: Ch 3, dc in the next st, (ch 1, sk next st, dc in the next) 5 times, *ch 4, sk next st, work 3-dc cl in the next st, (ch 1, sk 3 sts work 3-dc cl in the next) twice, ch 4, sk the next st dc in the next, (ch 1, sk next dc, dc in the next) 5 times; rep from * across, ch 4, dc in last st. Row 8: Ch 3, dc in the next st, (ch 1, dc in the next st) 5 times, * ch 4, sc in the next 3-dc cl, (sk next st, sc in the next 3-dc cl) twice, ch 4, dc in the next st, (ch 1, dc in the next st) 5 times; rep from * across, ch 4, dc in the last st. Row 9: Ch 3, dc in the next st, (ch 1, dc in the next st) 5 times, * ch 1, work 3-dc cl in the next st, (ch 3, work 3-dc cl in the next st) twice, (ch 1, dc in the next st) 6 times; rep from * across, ch 1, dc in the last st. Row 10: Ch 3, dc in the next st, (dc in the next ch 1sp and in the next dc) 5 times, * dc in the next ch 1 sp, and in the next 3-dc cl, (3 dc in the next ch 3 sp, dc in the next 3-dc cl,) twice, (dc in the next ch 1 sp, and in the next dc) 6 times; rep from * across, dc in the last st. (66 dc) Row 11 -12: Ch 3, dc in the next st and in each st across. (66dc) Finish off and weave in ends. To finish hat off, double strand the tapestry needle and weave the needle in and out of every stitch around, pulling the yarn tightly to close the hole. When you finish the first round, repeat the process of weaving the needle the opposite way to make sure the threads are woven. Keep weaving until you are sure the hat is securely closed. Optional: Add a pompom, leave open, or add a button. On the closing of the ribbing, add a button.
