Hi everyone and welcome to the 13th round of The Battle of the Stitches. I am happy to be one of the designers out of 10 this round. This round we are using a Slanted Puff St. I designed this Spring Rose Dress using this lacy and beautiful st. The dress is sized to fit a 6-12 month old little girl. The dress would be perfect for Easter or any day really.

I Love This Cotton – CA - White      I Love This Cotton –CB - Rosey ll
H Hook 5.0mm
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends
                Scissors
                Optional Ribbon – I used 1 1/2 inch
                ½ inch button for closure

Stitches:
ch(s) – chain(s)
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(es) – stitch(es)
tch – turning chain
rep - repeat
beg – beginning
 
Dress measures 19 inch chest and from top of shoulder strap to bottom of ruffle measures 16.5
 
Gauge:  2” by 2” = 9 rows and 9sts
 
This pattern is written in American Terms
​With CA Ch59
Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, *dc in the next st , sc in the next st,*. Rep from * to* across. ch 8, sl st to sc. This forms the closure for the button. turn 58 sts
 
Row 2 – 6: ch 1, sc in the same st,* dc in the next st, sc in the next st.* Rep from * to * across, turn
Sl st to other end to begin working in the round.
 
Rnd 1:  ch 1, sc in the same st, sc next 2 sts, *2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 3 sts*, rep from * to * across, sl st to sc. (73sts)
 
Rnd 2-3 ch 1, sc same st, sc in the next st and each st across. sl st to sc,
 
Rnd 4: ch 1, sc next 2 sts, *2 sc next st, sc next 3 sts,* rep from * to * across, sc int the last st, sl st to sc.  (90 sts)
 
Rnd 5-6: ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in the next st and in each st across.  sl st to sc. (92sts)
 
Rnd 7: ch 5, (counts as dc, ch 1) dc in same st, *sk next 3 sts, (dc, ch 2, dc) in the next st,* rep from * to * around, sl st to ch 3 (23 puffed sts.)
 
Rnd 8: ch 1, sc in the 1st dc, *ch 3, puff st around sc just made, ch 1, sc around ch of next V-st, * rep from * to * around. sl st to joining ch.
​Rnd 9: ch 4, dc in the same st, (counts as v-st), V-st in each sc around to end st,
sl st to joining ch.

Repeat Rnds 8 and 9- 5 more times

Repeat Rnd  8 one more time

 Ruffle
CB -  Rnd 1 :  ch 4, dc in the same st, (counts as v-st), V-st in each sc around to end st,  sl st to joining ch.
Rnd 2: sl st to center of v-st.  (ch1, sc, dc, tr, tr, dc, sc) all in center of v-st.  rep in each v-st around.  Finish off
 
For Rose (OPTIONAL)
Make 2
Ch 25
dc in 4th ch from hook, 2 dc same ch, 3 dc next ch and in each ch across. Finish off leaving a 12 inch tail. Roll into shape of rose, and using end of yarn weave to keep rose connected.
 
Shoulder Strap (make 2)
Connect CA to the front of bodice with a sl sp, ch 1, sc in same st , *dc in the next st, sc in the next st* rep from * to * 3 more times across. turn
Ch 1, sc same st, *dc in the next st, sc in the next st,* rep from * to * across   Repeat for 18 rows.  Finish off.
 
To add them to dress.  Measure in 2.5 inches and add the strap.  Attach with a whip st. and finish off and weave in ends.  Repeat for other side.
