A scood is a scarf and hat all in one. Perfect for those of us that like sledding, skating, and any other outdoor activity you might want to enjoy. This will keep your neck, face, and head warm. Materials: Size 6.mm J Hook Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Sage (3 skeins) Yarn Needle Scissors Stitches: Blo – back loop only ch (chs) – chain(s) dc – double crochet FPtr – front post treble crochet BPtr- back post treble crochet sl st – slip stitch st(sts)=stitch (stitches) Rep – repeat This hat is written in American Terminology Scarf Measures: 19.5-20 inches x 10 inches high on hooded part Scarf measures 72 inches. Make this as short or long as you want. The pattern uses any number of stitches. Ch 202 Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Turn Row 2: ch 3, dc in the next st and each st across. sl to to top of dc to join. Turn Row 3: ch 3, *FPtr around the next st, BPtr around the next*, rep from * to * across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 4: ch 3, dc in the next st and in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 5: ch 1, sc in the same st and sc in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 6-8: rep row 5 Row 9: ch 3, dc in the next st and in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 10: ch 3, dc in the next st and in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 11: ch 3, *FPtr around the next st, BPtr around the next*, rep from * to * across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 12: ch 3, dc in the next st and in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 13: ch 3, dc in the next st and in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 14: Row 5: ch 1, sc in the same st and sc in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn. Finish off scarf and weave in ends. Laying scarf flat and on the wrong side, count over 72 sts, add a stitch marke, count over 56, add another stitch marker, you should have 72 stitches left to total 200. Sl st yarn to start working hood. Hood: Row 15: ch 3, dc in next st and in each st across, sl st to sc. Turn Row 16: ch 3, dc in next st and in each st across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 17: ch 3, *FPtr around the next st, BPtr around the next*, rep from * to * across, sl st to top of ch 3. Turn Row 18-35: rep rows 15-17; 5 more times. Finish off leaving a 12 inch tail Turn hat inside out, close hat by stitching the top together by folding hat in half and using the 12 inch tail. I love this Scoodie... but it appears to have small gaps where the wind might get in. Can you tell me how well this protects from the wind? Or are the gaps an optical illusion caused by photographing the alternating front and back post stitches? Thank you.
