******It is a chain 10 not 19*******

I love a good pair of mittens.  I especially love a pair with the button flap, so I decided I would share a pair with all you loyal people!!  Thank you so much for supporting me.

These gloves will fit a child large and ladies small.

Materials:

Size H and J Hook

2 colors of worsted weight yarn.  I used I Love This Yarn

2 Buttons

Darning Needle

Stitches:

Sl st-slip stitch

Ch-chain

Sc – single crochet

Dc – double crochet

Hdc-half double crochet

Tr-treble crochet

YO- yarn over

BLO- back loop only

MC- Master Color

CC- Contrast Color

Special Stitches:

To work a 3-dc cluster: (use next 3 dc’s) * yo, insert hook in next dc, yo and pull up loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook* repeat from * to * 2 more times yo and draw through 4 loops on hook. 

Gauge- 2×2= 8 sts. and 9 rows

Using the H hook and MC 

Cuff:

Ch 10 loosely

Row 1: Sc in first ch from hook and in each st across, turn (9sc)

Row 2 thru 30: *Ch 1, Sc in first 2 loops, (in back loop only) sc in the next 7 sts, sc in both loops of the last st. Turn, repeat until row 30. Working through BOTH loops of last row, sl st together last row and beginning chain to form a cuff. The joining of the last row and the beginning chain will become the “seam.” DO NOT FASTEN OFF

 
Mitten Body: (continue with “J” hook) Note: Mitten Body is worked in spirals with no joining sts or chains

Using CC
Rnd 1:

Ch 2 (counts as 1 st sc), mark st as beginning of round, with RS facing, work 30 sc evenly in cuff row ends (30 sc total)  *Continue to move marker up in succeeding rounds, to mark beg of round*. I put my marker in the last st made.   

Rnd 2-3:

Sc in each sc around.  (30 sts)

Rnd 4:

Sc in the 1st 10 sts, 2 sc in the next st,  rep. one more time, sc in the last 7 sts. (32 sts)

Rnd 5-7:

Sc in each sc around. (32 sts)

Rnd 8:

Sc in the 1st 10 sts, 2 sc in the next st, rep. one more time, sc in the last 10 sts. (34 sts)

Rnd 9-12:

Sc in each sc around. (34 sts)

Left Glove

Rnd 13: Sc in the 1st 6 sts, ch 1, sk 6, sc in the next st and in each st around. (28 sts and 1 ch)

Right Glove

Sc in the 1st 25sts, ch 1, sk 6, sc in the next st and in each st around. (28 sts and 1 ch)

Rnd 14:

Sc in each st and ch around. (29 sts)

Rnd 15:

Sc in each st around. (29 sts)  Finish off

With MC

Lay glove flat, with right side facing you and thumb to the left. Count over 7 sts from the center st, sc into the 8th st , sc in the next 17 sts, ch 10, sc into the first sc of the same row. (27 sts)

Rnd 2-5:

Sc in the 1st and in each st and ch around. (27sts.)

CC

Rnd 6:

Sc in the 1st and in each st and ch around. (27sts.)

MC

Rnd 7-10:

Sc in the 1st st and in each st around. (27sts)
CC

Rnd 11:

Sc in the 1st 10 sts, sc dec, rep one more time, sc last 3sts. (25 sts)

Rnd 12:

Sc in the 1st 8 sts, sc dec, rep one more time, sc last 5 sts. (23 sts)

Rnd 13:

Sc in the 1st 6 sts, sc dec, rep one more time, sc last 7 sts. (21 sts)

Rnd 14:

Sc in the 1st 4 sts, sc dec, rep two more time, sc last 3 sts. (18 sts)

Rnd 15:

Sc in the 1st 2 sts, sc dec, rep three more time, sc last 2 sts. (14 sts)

Rnd 16:

Sc in the 1st 2 sts, sc dec, rep two more time, sc last 2 sts. (11 sts)

Finish off leaving an 6-8 inch tail.  Using the tail weave in and out of the final sts pulling tight to close end. Then take the remaining end make a loop to creat
e a button holder. Tie several knots in the end and weave in remaining yarn.

 Thumb:

CC

Rnd 1: Sc into any sc. Sc 2 sts, 2 sc in the next, sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sc in the next, sc around to end. 

Rnd 2-9: Sc around until row 9

Row 10: Sc dec, sc 4 sts, sc dec..around.

Finish off leaving 4-6 in tail.  Weave around like top of mitt.

Inside of palm mitt

CC

With right side facing you on the palm side of mitt.  Sk 1st 2 sc, *5 dc into the next sc, sk 3 sc, rep from * around. (4 Shells)

Other side of cuff:

Rnd 1:

Ch 2 (counts as 1 st sc), with RS facing, work 30 sc evenly in cuff row ends, sl st to join (30 sc total)

Rnd 2:

Ch 3,* sk 3 sts, (3dc-cl, ch 1, 3 dc-cl) into the next sc*, rep. from * to *  6 more times. (7 clusters) sl st to join.
Finish off and change color

MC

Rnd 3:

Ch 4, (3 dc-cl, ch 1, 3 dc-cl) into the first ch 1 sp, rep. 6more times, sl st to join. (7 clusters)
Finish off and change color
CC

Rnd 4:

Ch 4, (3 dc-cl, ch 1, 3 dc-cl) into the first ch 1 sp, rep. 6more times, sl st to join.  (7 clusters)
Finish off and change color
MC

Rnd 5:

Ch 4, sc into the first ch 1 sp, *ch 4, sc into the next ch 1 sp rep from *6 more times.  Sl st to ch 1 of starting ch 3. (8 ch 4’s)
Finish off and change color.

CC

Rnd 6:

Sc into the 1st ch 4 (hdc, dc, tr, dc,hdc, sc) all in the same ch 4, *(sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc) into the next ch 4.  Rep from *6 more times.  Finish off.  Weave in ends. (8 shells)

Add buttons to center of mitten on the front side.

    Your instructions are Very vague zometimes. Ex: middle of WHAT WHERE…8 st for 17 st….ch 10.
    You dont give a Starting point of refetence. Maybe you need to do visual tutorials.
    Instructions saren’t completly undetstandable.

    I love these mittens but I am so confused right now. After
    the 17 sc sts then the chain 10 I can’t visualize where I’m at what point of the mitten is this? What part of the mitten is this?
